Flatbread Cafe is a relaxed spot in Altona North where you can settle in for a casual breakfast or a coffee break that feels honest and approachable. Located on Borrack Square, this café draws a steady stream of locals, from early risers grabbing their morning java to midday visitors looking for simple, fresh flavors with a Middle Eastern twist.

The atmosphere here is easygoing and unpretentious, leaning into a laid-back neighborhood vibe rather than anything flashy. Seating is comfortable and functional, making it a good place to pause whether you’re stopping by for a takeaway coffee or lingering with friends over a shared meal. It’s the kind of place where baristas know regulars by name, and the smell of freshly baked dough from the stone oven fills the air without overwhelming.

On the menu, Flatbread Cafe shines brightest with its signature flatbreads and man’oush, which locals consistently praise for their authentic taste and well-balanced toppings. Their Kafta pizza and zatar breads stand out as crowd-pleasers — the combination of thin, fresh dough with savory cheeses, herbs, and lashings of zaatar speaks to a genuine respect for traditional Lebanese flavors. You can also find falafel wraps and balls, along with a range of hot and cold drinks including well-crafted lattes and chai lattes, which complement the food without stealing the show.

This café is tailored to those who appreciate straightforward, quality food that feels like a refreshingly honest alternative to more mainstream brunch spots. It’s busiest in the mornings and early afternoons, making it a preferred spot for a casual breakfast or lunch catch-up, and with ample parking nearby, it’s easy to swing by whether you’re on foot or driving.

Overall, Flatbread Cafe serves as a dependable local anchor for anyone looking to enjoy Middle Eastern-inspired breads and coffee in a no-nonsense, welcoming environment. It’s a low-key destination for a taste and atmosphere that reflect the neighborhood’s multicultural character and slower pace.

I have been to many Lebanese bakeries across Sydney and Melbourne; and I can say hands down this place is the best! The dough is excellent, thin and delicious. The spinach and cheese is absolutely amazing, it has that subtle bitterness you only get from fresh spinach, it's one of my favourites and is a very generous size. Amazing cheese, zatar and more. As for the shanglish; it's the first time I've actually enjoyed shanglish from any place I've every tried it at. I can't say enough good things about this place. The people are friendly good people; and this spot is a little gem! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for top notch munoosh that still tastes great days later (refrigerated)!

What an absolutely delightful place. The zaatar bread is the best I’ve had outside of the Middle East. Wonderful people and good coffee.

Honestly. This place needs like 1000 5 star reviews. The boss himself, his name is Rizq… research what Rizq means. lol Nah but seriously. If the circle pizza is closed, I go to this place right here. Salams.

One of the few places in Altona/Newport area that sells the best man'oush (pies). Of course it’s freshly baked and the taste is sublime. Accepts cash/card, and plenty of parking in front of the store.

It is hidden little gem! Must visit this place for the Lebanese breakfast! try their fresh breakfast zaatar(thyme and oregano mix), zaatar with vegetables, cheese, meat, spinach or the age fermented cheese (Shankleesh) which is my favorite! It looks like pizza but yeah you should try it for breakfast! I will pay you back your money if you don’t like it!
